Brief CV

She received a Computer Science degree by the University of Deusto in 1992 and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering by UNED in 1998.

Assistant Professor at UNED from 1996 to 2000. She joined the UIB in 2000 and is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Architecture and Technology in the Department of Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science.

She teaches in the degrees of Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering and Computer Engineering, and the Master of Industrial Engineering and Master of Intelligent Systems. She is currently supervising doctoral theses in the Ph.D. programs in Translational Research in Public Health and High Prevalence Diseases and in Information and Communication Technologies.

She belongs to the research groups Systems, Robotics and Vision of the UIB and the E-Health and Multidisciplinary Telemedicine through Cyber-Physical Intelligent Systems of the IdISBa. She develops her research activity in the fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Telemedicine, and eHealth. She made a research stay at the Active Vision Group of the University of Oxford in 2004.

She regularly participates in science outreach activities such as 'Science for All', the 'Estalmat' program of the Balearic Islands, 'MENTORiment-UIB', 'Scratch Days', speaker at 'Saturdays.ai', 'Universitat Oberta per a Majors (UOM)', round tables and interviews and reports in the press and audiovisual media.

She was academic secretary of the PAAU at UNED in 2000, deputy director of the Higher Polytechnic School at the UIB from 2010 to 2012, and director of the Higher Polytechnic School of the UIB from 2012 to 2016. She has been a member of different commissions for curriculum development, quality assurance, and academic commissions of master studies. From 2016 to 2021 she has been the Director of Research Promotion at the UIB. She is currently the Vice-Rector for undergraduate management and academic policy of this University.
